The adventure begins early in the morning with pickup from your hotel in Puno at 6:40 a.m. Afterwards, we will head to the main port of the majestic Lake Titicaca, considered the highest navigable lake in the world and one of Peru’s most important tourist attractions.
On board a comfortable tourist boat, we will begin a fascinating journey across the sacred waters of the lake. After approximately 30 minutes of navigation, we will arrive at the famous Uros Floating Islands, a unique destination in the world entirely built from totora reeds, an aquatic plant native to the region.
During the visit, we will learn about the ancestral traditions of the Uros community, their floating homes, customs, daily activities, and the incredible way they have preserved their culture through generations. We will also have the opportunity to admire and purchase beautiful handicrafts made by local residents.
Afterwards, we will continue our journey to the traditional Taquile Island, arriving at approximately 11:30 a.m. From the port, we will take a walk of around 40 minutes to the main village while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Titicaca and the natural landscapes of the Andean highlands.
On Taquile Island, we will stay for approximately 2 hours, during which we will discover the rich culture of its inhabitants, internationally recognized for preserving their ancestral customs, communal organization, and extraordinary textile art declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
During the visit, we will appreciate exhibitions of traditional handicrafts, observe the daily life of the islanders, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere that characterizes this magical place. We will also enjoy a delicious traditional lunch with a spectacular view of Lake Titicaca.
Finally, at 2:30 p.m., we will begin our return journey to the city of Puno, arriving at approximately 5:30 p.m., concluding an unforgettable experience filled with culture, nature, and tradition on the wonderful Uros and Taquile Islands.
