Amazon Adventure Itinerary
This adventure itinerary in the Peruvian Amazon allows you to discover the extraordinary natural wealth and incredible biodiversity of the rainforest through two days of exploration, adventure, and direct contact with wildlife.
During this experience at Sandoval Lake, you will navigate Amazon rivers, walk through virgin jungle trails, and observe iconic species such as giant river otters, caimans, monkeys, macaws, and exotic birds in their natural habitat.
Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Sandoval Lake
The adventure begins in Puerto Maldonado, where you will be welcomed and transferred to the port to navigate along the Madre de Dios River. Along the way, you may observe tropical birds, monkeys, turtles, and caimans.
We then enter the Tambopata National Reserve and take a jungle walk to reach Sandoval Lake. After lunch, we explore the lake by canoe to observe giant river otters, black caimans, exotic birds, and monkeys in their natural environment.
At night, we take a guided excursion in search of caimans while enjoying the sounds of the Amazon rainforest.
Day 2: Palm Clay Lick (Collpa de Palmeras) – Return
Early in the morning, we visit the Palm Clay Lick, where macaws and parrots gather to feed. This is a spectacular opportunity to witness a natural show of colorful birds.
We continue exploring the rainforest, learning about medicinal plants and observing wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, armadillos, and frogs.
Finally, we return to Puerto Maldonado by navigating the Madre de Dios River and transfer to the airport or bus terminal.
